This rare craft, which began in France in the 16th century, requires excellent skills and ingenuity. Traditional ink is filled with two layers of "Limoges white glaze" (a white enamel powder) on a dark blue background to highlight the contrast effect. Colored ink uses blue glazes of varying shades to enhance the composition level, and then yellow glazes to outline the warm lights.
