The Weinstein Company have agreed to license, with an option to buy

• Following rumours yesterday, Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein has confirmed that he will relaunch the defunct Charles James label.

  "Charles James was one of the most incredible couturiers in the history of fashion and this label deserves to be a household name in same ranks as Chanel, Dior and Oscar de la Renta," said Weinstein in a statement. "There isn't a single designer in high fashion who wouldn't name him as a major influence. We are franklin and marshall t shirt beyond thrilled to be spearheading the revival of this brand and bringing it back to the world's finest retailers."

  As rumoured, Weinstein's wife, Marchesa co-founder and designer Georgina Chapman, will serve as creative consultant to the brand alongside her brother, Marchesa CEO Edward Chapman.

  "Charles James designs and gowns took everyone's breath away at the Met ball. He's long been an inspiration to me and everyone at Marchesa," commented Ms Chapman. "We're thrilled to help bring the Met exhibit to museums around the country and to bring the spirit and style of Charles James back into the fashion marketplace."

  The Weinstein Company have agreed to license, with an option to buy, the dormant luxury fashion brand from the late couturier's estate. The partnership comes as James's work is celebrated Franklin Marshall Sale with an exhibition at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was feted at the May 5 Met Ball. TWC hopes to bring the exhibit to other major cities.
