I try to keep Nibbits whitelisted, but when I see crap like this:
I start to question the motivation to do so. This ad is just downright malicious and immediately started trying to dump spyware on this college machine I'm on. I clicked it just to make sure it was an advertisement (no URL appears in the status bar because it's flash based). It would have hit my noscript at home, but wow what a volatile and violent link to click on on this fairly loose college firefox.
Sidebars, bottom-ups and such I can usually tolerate. Downright abusive things like this need to be dealt with. Even if it just means boxing your advertisements and putting the word ADVERTISEMENT in a clear position.
I have several different advertisers running. I'm actually weeding out as many non-game related ads as possible, especially ones with spyware are a BIG nono..
Next time, try and get me the link it goes to so I can block it.
I added an 'Advertisement' header at that location, I'm still trying to find who served that ad so I can block it.
Good yea its getting really annoying when I enter site some crap come from down side of the page laging so much. Its going to be a waste but for sure Il buy the Hide advertisements from the shop
I need to go over that feature, atm it doesn't work for all ads yet :) (It's on my todo list)
Take note though, ads help to run the website. A site like this eats quite a lot of bandwidth and costs a lot of system resources..
I'm currently in the process with discussing deals with game related ad companies to keep ads as relevant as possible. If I see annoying ads, I block them.
Ads you will NOT see: Popups or popunders Flash overlay ads that block content view.. Spyware crap
Now it's POSSIBLE something slips through at times (like the download ad), there's several advertisers involved, and I don't approve each ad manually. So if this popups just notify me by mail or through a private message.
The footer ad below and the siteskin are on trail basis to see how they go (interest wise and reaction from the visitors).., they're game-related only and they don't block any content. So they shouldn't be too invasive.
Also, they show up a maximum of 3 or 4 times, and the footer ad should disappear after 10 seconds.
siteskin isn't bad at all when they show the right things, seeing thigns about new games is fine for me, showing an advertisement on wheelchairs is not on this site.
Siteskin and bottom popup are game related only. These are served by an ad company dedicated to gamesites.
The 'generic' banners I'm slowly replacing for game-related too (just takes a while to get the right advertisers :). atm 70% of the ads is games only..
I went over the 'Hide Ads' feature in the shop and it fully works now.
I set it to level 10 and 1000 gold, regular users should have no problem buying it with this price and level requirement set, which makes it a rewarding feature for returning Nibbits users :)
This will hide ALL ads, including the siteskin and footer ad

Ok, I think I narrowed down which advertising company served that banner and I sent them a mail to block it.
