Shroud of Darkness is a survival horror game, though if I had to put it in a category (which I assume I do), Survival Horror might fit best in the RPG category.
Your ghost, and your teammates' ghosts, are all Blind. You can toggle your "flashlight" by purchasing a Shuttle, which gives you vision (I think it puts a Map Revealer on your ghost). While on, your flashlight uses energy which can be restored by using up a Battery, both available for purchase, and scattered throughout the map.
You have limited ammo, represented in Minerals. When you run out I guess it forces allying with the computers. You can reload by manually using an ammo box, of similar availability to Batteries. (I think you can reload before you run out, but I would prefer if it automatically reloaded when you do run out.)
Your inventory is represented as a Dropship. You move your dropship to interact with objects, including (but not limited to) buying items or upgrades, making use of free healing, and most importantly, picking up items you find. When you add an item to your inventory, a unit representing that item is put inside the Dropship; to use the item, you simply unload it. You can also drop items by building an Observer; I guess this is in case your teammates really start to hurt as far as supplies go. Also, I think "activating" while not near anything context-sensitive (items, buildings, or NPCs), it will kill any enemies immediately next to you (only really useful if you're out of ammo, I think)
There are lots of sound effects, missions, and other stuff that I won't bother describing at length - this is already essay-length XD

A challenging map with many survival horror elements and great gameplay. A combination of a flashlight effect and ammo system makes this game stand out. If anything lacked I felt the terrain was uninspired. Also like others this is pretty difficult to get through.
My suggestions for this map is to improve on the survival HORROR element. It was a tad annoying when enemies popped up and hit you before you could run. Also it would need more horror moments and a more creepier atmosphere than just running around with zombies.
This version seems unbeatable, and not just because it's so hard. There are a couple barriers to the east blocking your progression, and there is no way to open them up (I spent a long time wandering around with invincibility in Single Player just to see if I could find something, but I could not).
In rare circumstances, you can get items for killing enemies. What I don't get is when this happens. It has only happened in one game, and I got like 4 items from enemies, so if it is random, it's way too inconsistent. If someone can figure out HOW to get items from kills that'd make it more fun...
This map's really fun, but I think it's a bit too hard. While your flashlight's battery capacity is 100, the battery item you can buy only recharges 40. Refunds on items are also only 33%; 50% might make it a little more worth it. And the clip upgrade only increases your max by 1 (starting from 8); only barely worth it, if just because it fills up your gun "for free.
