Ch. 1: Crucible
This is a short 6 to 7 mission campaign centered around the Dark Templar. For most of the campaign you will only have access to Dark Templar units (for example, no Carriers, Arbiters, High Templar, or Reavers) but will have Zerg or Terran infantry support in some missions. It starts on Char right about the time Zeratul and Tassadar met up, progresses through the Protoss civil war, and ends with the struggle for Shakuras. You will get a chance to both use and fight against all three races, although the player's Protoss tech tree is tweaked a bit in missions where the Nerazim were not unified with the Khalai.
The majority of the missions are build-up-and-destroy missions with a central objective to destroy. Most of the maps contain optional enemies that do not have to be destroyed for victory but will prove a troublesome thorn in your side if left alone. The missions in general are quite difficult but definitely beatable as long as the player takes the computers seriously.
As a quick side-note, any of the missions that occur chronologically before Brood War will not have enemy types from Brood War present. This makes the earlier missions slightly easier as well as enhances the accuracy of the maps to the storyline. The only exception to this is that missions with support from Raynor's Raiders allow you to build Medics (otherwise the ability to use Terran infantry at all would be too worthless).
